Time's running! Catch the alarm clock on wheels
The alarm clock on wheels has revolutionized time pieces and also the sleeping habits of people.
Clocks are facing tough times these days. Evolving from large tower mounted contraptions they slowly adjusted their size to our humble wall and then morphed into a size where they could comfortably snug close to use on a small table near our bed. The chiming bells of clock tower gave way to loud shrill alarm but we didn’t complain as the machine was close by and we could put it off even while half asleep. It was a victory for determined sleepers and the clock was in urgent need of an innovation that could outsmart the slothful over sleeper and habitual “snooze offenders”. Gauri Nanda moved in to fill this yawning gap. A “snooze offender” herself she turned her daily struggle with killing deadlines into a product that has revolutionized time pieces and also the sleeping habits of people.
Clocky is product designed to instill “get-up-early” values in today’s late risers. The watch has undergone a sea change. The new innovation has included a design element that gives the clock mobility. Research into the behavioral aspect of a late riser threw up an interesting finding. Most of us keep the clock close to ourselves and put a snooze button to buy few more precious minutes of sleep. This constant domination of the clock defeats the purpose for which the alarm was set. To bypass this lacuna in the conventional time pieces, Gauri has introduced wheels in her first model and put a small computer program linked to the alarm.
