Five techies from Bangalore consider themselves lucky after they were picked to play roles in the movie Bond 23. Know more.
Bangalore may have lost an opportunity to host the shooting of the next James Bond film, Bond 23 , courtesy the Indian Railways. But five expats working for various MNCs in Bangalore should consider themselves lucky after they were picked to play some roles in the movie.
Though the roles of the five are minor, they are thrilled at the prospect of featuring alongside Daniel Craig, the British actor who plays 007.
The five are under a non- disclosure agreement to not to reveal their identities till the shooting of the film is over.
“ Yes, let the world watch us on the big screen. Until then, we are not supposed to speak anything about the project,” said Peter ( first name) from Poland. He works for a European firm in Bangalore.
All the five are Caucasians and are over 6- feet tall. They were selected from a list of 30 candidates, who were recently auditioned in Bangalore. Incidentally, they have essayed minor roles in Kannada and Tamil movies.
According to Y. B. Reddy, a local casting director and location manager for Bond 23, four out of the five are IT professionals while the fifth is a social worker.
“ They met our requirements and we selected them for the film. The shooting will commence on October 3 in India,” he added.
Directed by Sam Mendes ( of American Beauty and Road to Perdition fame), the Indian leg of the shooting will take place in Goa and at the Ramoji Rao Film City near Hyderabad.
Initially, a train chasing sequence was to be shot near the Cantonment railway station in Bangalore.
But the Railways refused permission, as the Cantonment- Krishnarajapuram section route is one of the busiest networks in South India.
Subsequently, the filmmakers opted for Goa as the location where permission was granted after minor changes in the script.
